What each logo price buys
Three tiers are the pattern clients already read. Each one names its concepts, revisions and files.
| Package | Price | Included | Fiverr | Upwork | FreelanceNation Starter | FreelanceNation Pro | FreelanceNation Studio |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $95 | 2 logo concepts, PNG and SVG files, 2 revisions | $76.00 | $85.50 | $87.40 | $90.25 | $92.15 |
| Standard | $250 | 3 concepts, full file set, color variations, 4 revisions | $200.00 | $225.00 | $230.00 | $237.50 | $242.50 |
| Premium | $600 | Logo suite, brand style sheet, social kit | $480.00 | $540.00 | $552.00 | $570.00 | $582.00 |
Payout columns are the package price minus the platform's cut from the seller: Fiverr 20%, Upwork 10%, and 8%, 5% or 3% on the FreelanceNation Starter, Pro and Studio plans.
Pricing logic
Where the logo price comes from
Upwork estimates a logo at 5 to 20 or more hours. At Upwork's $25 average rate that is $125 to $500. Upwork lists top logo designers at $25 to $75 an hour, most between $35 and $50. A US designer who wants to take home the national median wage needs about $85 an hour, which puts the same logo at $425 to $1,700. The rates and the break-even are worked out on the freelance graphic design rates page.
The cost to the client also depends on who collects the fee. On a $425 logo Fiverr's client pays $448.38 while the designer keeps $340. With an 8% commission the designer keeps $391 and the client pays $425. Use the fee calculator to run your own price through every marketplace, and the rate calculator to check each tier against your hourly break-even.
Package contents
Six things every logo price should spell out
Concepts
How many different ideas you draw before the client picks one. Two is a floor, three is the usual middle tier.
Revision rounds
A number, written in the package. Unlimited revisions turn a fixed price into an hourly one you never bill.
File set
PNG, SVG and a one-color version at least. Source files are what clients pay extra for.
Usage rights
Say that the client owns the final logo after payment and that unused concepts stay with you.
Turnaround
A delivery date per tier. Faster delivery is a legitimate reason for a higher tier.
Extras
Brand style sheet, social profile kit and business card layout as priced add-ons, not free extras.
Questions
Logo design cost questions answered
How much does a logo cost from a freelancer?
Upwork estimates a logo at 5 to 20 or more hours of work, so the price follows the hourly rate. At Upwork's $25 average that is $125 to $500, and at the $85 an hour a US designer needs to match the median wage it is $425 to $1,700. Most freelancers package it as three tiers, such as $95, $250 and $600.
What is the difference between a cheap logo and an expensive one?
Scope. A low price usually buys two concepts, a couple of revisions and web files. A higher price adds more concepts, source files, color and one-color variations, usage documentation and a brand style sheet, plus the time to research the business before drawing.
How many revisions should a logo package include?
Two on the entry tier and four on the middle tier is common. Write the number in the package and price extra rounds, so a client knows what the next round costs before asking.
Should I charge per hour or per logo?
Per logo, in tiers. Clients compare packages, not hours, and a fixed scope protects you from open-ended revision. Use your hourly break-even only to check that each tier clears it.
How much does Fiverr take from a logo sale?
Fiverr takes 20% from the seller, so a $250 logo pays out $200. Upwork takes a 10% talent fee, so the same logo pays out $225. On FreelanceNation the commission is 8% on Starter, 5% on Pro and 3% on Studio, and clients pay no fee.
How do I get paid for a logo?
Take payment before you deliver the final files. Publish the tiers on a gig page, let the client choose a tier and send a brief, and collect the tier amount by card before the source files go out.
Publish your three logo tiers on one page that takes the order
Clients pick a tier, send a brief and pay by card. You keep 92% on Starter, 95% on Pro and 97% on Studio.
